The Latest Terrifying News from the US

Please sponsor my 5k swim coming up in April and help support Marie Curie Cancer Care, an organisation which provides home nursing care to people with terminal illnesses.

Even the mainstream media is now reporting that the federal government is training pastors to help “quell dissent” in martial-law situations. As frightening as the concept itself is, the tone in which the report is delivered may be even more disturbing. Watching the video, I was especially chilled by the reference made to posse comitatus, which suggested it had just been some quaint old law that kept the great and wonderful government from protecting us.

This program is laying the groundwork for two strong authoritarian forces to join together, for preachers to convert at gunpoint or send those who resist away to”forced relocation” camps and for the secular rulers to have the assured allegiance of the followers of these supposedly religious men. Only the obedient would remain free, which is to say that no one would be free.

How many events could serve as cover for this? A major earthquake, a global-warming-driven hurricane that overwhelms neglected infrastructure, an alleged terrorist attack? Add in Directive 51, and you have a real nightmare scenario.

I hope, of course, that I’m wrong. The trouble is that in the aftermath of a disaster, strength to resist will be limited. This is yet another reason why we can’t take the risk of waiting for election day. Impeachment is imperative.
