Note to CNN

Please sponsor my 5k swim coming up in April and help support Marie Curie Cancer Care, an organisation which provides home nursing care to people with terminal illnesses.

When doing a survey to see how much attention people who happen to be walking by your studio the average person on the street has been paying to the election, don’t you think you might want to ask them what candidates stand for instead of asking them to identify pictures?  I mean, last I checked, US elections still involved selecting a name rather than a photograph.  And besides, aren’t you in danger of blowing the whole game here by revealing just how shallow political coverage in the mainstream media tends to be?

Of course, I suppose that reifying the importance of visual identification helps to promote television news over radio and print media.  Plus, since you’ve shown the face of your anointed frontrunners over and over again (and aren’t about to ask about anyone you’ve designated unelectable), you know that you simply can’t be blamed for lack of voter awareness defined by an inability to identify a photograph.  Clearly, citizens are just apathetic, right?
