A Poem for the Associated Press

Read my latest story, "A Tale of Two Birthdays", at 52|250.

I had heard before that the AP was making the ridiculous claim that fair use was limited to four words, meaning that bloggers should pay to quote a passage of five or more words, but after reading the latest development I realized that the necessary response was to write a cut-and-paste poem.

A Poem for the Associated Press

to bail out the cash
can mount a challenge to
the facts of the case

they are simply too dangerous
for industry analysts who predicted
the victims of Sunday’s attack

the higher the economic stress
and severity of the turbulence
The more cautious approach appeared

to first-generation, financially disadvantaged students

For these lines, the AP believes I should pay $125. If I were a government-registered non-profit, that amount would drop to a much more reasonable $75.

Have you written an Associated Press cut-and-paste poem? If not, why not? If so, drop a link in the comments.
